Confessions of a Foodie

Hey guys!
If you’re either following me on Snapchat or Instagram, you’d know that I’ve spent a lot of money on eating this whole month. Why not let this foodie sum up some of the delicious food?

Paradis

This place in Aalborg is apparently very famous for their ice cream. My friends, who have lived there for ages, have raved about it, so we had to go. It’s not my first time trying Paradis ice cream – I tried it last year as well. It’s okay, but I personally prefer some ice cream from Ben&Jerry’s for almost same price point.

Starbuck’s

img_5258My beloved Starbucks! A forever love-affair. I dare not count how many times I’ve cheated my bank-account with this place, just this month. Anyways – they’ve started to serve this delicious cream, cookie cake, and I have found a new interest for Matcha tea drinks. I saw on the official Instagram of Starbucks DK, that they have Matcha tea frappuccino – and I just HAD to try it! When I looked at their menu, I couldn’t find it anywhere, so I had to ask them of they could make it anyways, and of course they could! It was oddly tasty – like green tea in form of frappuccino.

I came home this Friday, and my sister and I really craved waffles. So we bought the ingredients and some extra topping and made some from the scratch. They were super delicious but we also went out for some pizza afterwards.
It’s safe to say that my sixpack is postponed for another year -.-

Karma

img_5302 img_5303On Saturday, my childhood friend took us out for lunch date to catch up. So we went to restaurant Karma and later got some hot chocolate. I think we stayed there for like 3 solid hours! It was nice to see her again and just sitting inside, chitchatting while it was raining outside 🙂

Feed your Mind

Hey guys!
I’ve mentioned somewhere in here, that I want to read more books, and someday make my own little library at home. One thing is to buy tons of books, and another thing is to actually find the time to sit down and read them all. So far I’ve ordered/bought/got some books, that I haven’t read yet. Which is a shame, because that was the actual goal I sat. I’ve decided to read all the books I haven’t started on yet/finished before I buy more books.

Here’s a list of some of the books I have in queue:

sap

A brief history of humankind, Sapiens: I’m actually in the process of reading this. I read it whenever I feel like I need a break from all the study-related books, and read a few pages. So far, it is very interesting, and super easy to understand. You get to know some more complicated facts about the evolution, some still on-going debates and unanswered questions about events that leads to today’s Homo sapiens. I’ll give a review and my full opinion as soon as I’m done reading it 😉

the-sunThe sun and her flowers: I already have Rupi Kauer’s first book “Milk and Honey” (here), which I loved! So I ordered this one as soon as I could afford it. I haven’t looked in it yet. My consciousness keeps me away until I’ve at least finished Sapiens. Until then I’m waiting to excitedly!

Call me by your name: I ordered this book with “The sun and her flowers”, because I wanted something more for the delivery money, hehe. Honestly, when I ordered this book I had no idea, that it just came out as a motion film in the cinemas. I swear! So now I’m trying to stay away from the movie, until I’ve read the book. Of course I’ve watched the trailer (how could I resist?), and it looked very Italian 70’s aesthetic.

lavLavender garden: My brother gave me this book for my birthday. I have a huge list of books I want – so I gave it to him and said he could just give me any of these books, and got me this one. It’s a danish version tho, but I could use some danish reading once in a while so I don’t forget the language 😀 The title sounds so idyllic but I guess it’s some kind of a crime/drama genre.

perksThe perks of being a wallflower: Let me say right away, that I’m guilty. I’ve already watched this movie years ago – but I don’t quite remember it, so it’s fair to say that I can read the book and then rewatch the movie, right? Anyways I read the first 4 pages in this book, and it’s a letter-kind of writing style. So basically it’s a bunch of letters to a person, collected into this book that creates the story-line. I’m not sure if I’ve ever read a book written like that, but that should be interesting I guess.

I have few more books to add to the list, but I’ll get to them sooner or later hehe. Let me just finish these first and get back to y’all. 😉 ♥

Skincare Routine | Facial – Prevention

Hey guys!
Continuing my mini skin care series, with this post about, what I do to prevent/reduce breakouts on my skin. These are small easy tricks I picked up within 3-4 years, which has definitely made a difference in my skin! Again: I’m no expert, these are just some tricks based on my experience 🙂

1) Pillowcase

cinderella

I change my pillowcase 3-4 times a week. If you, like me, sleep a lot with your face down the pillow, it’ll be a good idea to change the case often. The pillowcase contains a lot of oils from our face and scalp, which can clog the pores and cause breakouts.
Also I recommend choosing a pillowcase in silk-fabric, since that’s less harsh against the skin 🙂

2) Water

water

Here’s nothing new to tell about when it comes to water. I cannot lie about how well this actually works. Drink a lot of water and see the difference for yourself 😉

3) No to Junk-food

healthy

It’s like karma to be honest. My body punishes me if I neglect the greens in my daily intake. We’ve all heard it’s super healthy and important to eat all our veggies and fruits… for a reason! They contains almost everything we need to keep our complexion perfect! Trust me, your skin will love you for it 😉

4) Towels

dry-face

I use 4 different towels. Yeah 4 different. One for my hair, body, hands and face. And wash it frequently! When drying your face, don’t rub the towel against your skin, but instead pat it gently. It won’t irritate your skin as much.

5) Touching your face

skrig

I do this a lot, especially when I’m stressed. Touching your face (especially with the palm side), can cause breakouts, since you touch a lot of things, such as your phone and other surfaces that can contain bacteria – and then transfer them to your face. Try make it a habit to not touching your face, and you’ll notice a difference.

6) Dirty brushes

giphyI’m guilty of this as well. We need to wash our makeup brushes often, since bacteria can develop in it, and store old products. Whenever I notice my skin breaks out after wearing makeup, I know it’s time to wash my tools. It also includes the beauty sponges! I usually wash them with normal soap or shampoo and sometimes with conditioner to make them less streaky.

7) Remove makeup

remove-makeup

This is crucial! No matter how lazy or tired you are, at least remove your makeup before you sleep. It’ll clog the pores and cause breakouts. This is also a reason I don’t wear makeup on daily basis – it’s too much effort to remove it every single day. If you do wear makeup on daily basis, then remember to remove it before you go sleep. 🙂

It’s getting Hot in Here

lemonadeYay! The weather is already getting better and I’m moving from hot drinks towards fresh cool things. I bought some citrus fruits in the grocery store and made some lemonade and detox water. I also bought a basilica plant, because as I’ve mentioned in here before, my favorite dish is spaghetti bolognese. I swear, the fresh basilica in the bolognese  makes it more flavorful and perfect!
Anyways, the warmer weather and more daylight makes me feel more productive and motivated to be healthier. Or something like that heheh.

This was basically just an update, but I’ll post my wedding-guest outfit in few days, so watch this space 😉 ♥

Heliophilia (n.)

img_5144 img_5147 img_5148 img_5160 img_5162 img_5165Heliophilia; [(n.) desire to stay in the sun; love of sunlight]

Hey guys! After a while I have an OOTD post for you. Luckily it was a sunny day, so I just got to take some pictures during the golden hour. This floor-lenght marigold anarkali is from Sri Lanka, and so are my earrings. I did nothing special about my makeup – just a simple glowy, bronzy eyes + red lips, and just curled my hair.

I love this marigold color! I have nothing in this color, and the embroidery at the top is so pretty. I love to have a variation of colors in my traditional attire, so this was a most 😀
The pictures will eventually be up on my instagram-feed – bear with me, I couldn’t wait to share the pictures on the blog first 😉
